Dear Marxist Unity Group,
Hello! I’m contacting you, as well as several of the other caucuses of the DSA, in an effort to form a united front for the establishment of a Labor Party, which I believe this country sorely and desperately needs. Now more than ever, in fact, as both working people in the US, and the people of Palestine, are being increasingly crushed and oppressed under the boot of Capital, and its continual crises. Our working class, having faced repeated cycles of betrayal from political hegemony, needs a tool whereby it, alone, can enact its program and politics. Such a tool is a worker’s party, and it means systematizing and institutionalizing political representation for the organized working class. It is different from our conventional parties, which are, at their best, run democratically by an urbanized electorate, and their representatives. A workers party has representation that is determined solely by the organized working class, and is accountable only to them. Workers, after having established a political voice, will necessarily experiment with, and be guided by, different programs in order to find and determine those which are adequate to the reality of their interests. It is only by such a process of broad experimentation that the American public could ever find itself in such a situation as to call a constitutional convention. And, once adopted, of course such a refoundation of American society on a constitutional level would be Revolutionary. Thus, it is my sincere wish that Marxist Unity Group will join the United Front to establish a labor party in the United States, as we hope many other Caucuses will as well.
I look forward to hearing back!
Sincerely yours,
Aimee Zee
