Dear Reform and Revolution Caucus,
Hello! I’m contacting you, as well as several of the other caucuses of the DSA, in an effort to form a united front for the establishment of a Labor Party, which I believe this country sorely and desperately needs. Now more than ever, in fact, as both working people in the US, and the people of Palestine, are being increasingly crushed and oppressed under the boot of Capital, and its continual crises. Socialists, though, face this crises with the same perplexity their predecessors had; they lack confidence that they have enough numbers to politically organize, as the working class, in their view, does not sufficiently accept their ideas. This view, though, is completely backwards, and is precisely the view that continuously leads the working class to further destitution, due to their lack of political agency to resort to, other than that of the ruling class. The role that socialists as intellectuals are tasked with is to lead, not to tail behind the speculative trends that we may think currently possess workers. Workers are convinced of possibilities by seeing them unfold before their very eyes, by witnessing leadership, and gaining confidence in them not through mental congruence in ideas, but through the confidence in themselves and their ideas that leaders demonstrate. And workers do need such leadership, urgently, if our situation is not going to worsen even more, and become ever more dire. Our time is (over)ripe, and now, we should forge our own (leftist) ‘art of the possible’ by creating and determining our own possibilities for ourselves. Only a worker’s hegemony can forge the political reality workers need to survive, grow, reproduce and thrive, but only a genuine worker’s party can build itself hegemony. Thus, it is my sincere wish that Reform and Revolution Caucus will join the United Front to establish a labor party in the United States, as we hope many other Caucuses will as well.
I look forward to hearing back from you!
Sincerely yours,
Aimee Zee
